Dunkleosteus Exhibit
A new exhibit is on display in the Paleontology museum, ESB B-01. The cast of the head of a huge Dunkleosteus now sits at the museum entrance.
Dunkleosteus was a member of the Placodermi (“plate skins”), a group of armoured fishes that dominated the Devonian seas 415–360 million years ago.
Dunkleosteus was a huge predator – the original length of this specimen was about 6 metres.
Be sure not to miss the fang of Gorgonichthys, a giant relative of Dunkleosteus, which is also on display.
The design and production of this exhibit was a collaborative effort made possible with the ideas, efforts and support of many.
